Discipleship, in community, for the world.

About Us

Who Are We?

Regardless of where it meets, a church is a group of people growing closer to God while serving each other and reaching out to their community. God created us so that we might enter into a relationship of love with Him. It is a choice that we are freely given but that God realizes in us when we turn to him. His presence and power then turn our weaknesses into strengths, guide us through both the joys and tragedies of life, and allow us to overcome our self-centeredness and reach out in love to each other. But it is a process—a partnership with God, and He uses the church, this gathering, as a safe place to grow in understanding and in the practice of what He is teaching us.

Calvary Chapel is a pressure free environment where you can ask your questions about God and explore His presence. We are not a purposeless community. Jesus has called us to follow His lead, to become His apprentices. The gifts that God has promised do not come to us randomly or magically. Rather they are a direct result of giving our lives over to Jesus and allowing him the greatest place of authority in our lives.

We believe that program should never overwhelm relationship— either our relationships with each other and our relationship with God. Programs, and we do have them, are there to enhance relationship. If not, it’s time for something new.

We endeavor to be a community of healing, a place where people can meet God and grow in Him, a place where people can develop their gifts, and a place of love and service. We strive to abide in God’s love and forgiveness, follow where He leads us, love each other, and bear fruit in the world.

Sunday Services and Core Groups

Every church needs structures to facilitate the life of the community. Our body is built around two main gathering places - our Sunday worship service and our weekly core group meetings.

Our Sunday worship service is open to all and runs from 5 to 6:30 PM. People dress casually and comfortably. Our music is a combination of hymns and contemporary worship songs. We are committed to preaching from the scriptures, but in an interactive style and with the goal of making sure that the truth of scripture shapes the way we live our lives. We don’t put people on the spot, but you won’t be ignored either. Hopefully you’ll experience something of the love of God which is active but not pushy! On the first Sunday of each month we celebrate communion together.

Our core groups are small groups that meet in homes all over the Seattle area at different times of the week. Our experience tells us that this is an essential part of establishing friendships in the church as well as a key to growth in discipleship. For more on core groups, go to the “Ministries - Core Groups” section of our web site.
