July 7th – Tolerance and Truth: Can they Co-Exist?
Brady Bobbink, director of Chi Alpha’s campus ministry at Western Washington University, addressed the nuances around religious freedom and tolerance in our country. It’s clear that one of the great virtues of today’s culture is tolerance. But what does “tolerance” mean and look like? How should it be defined? As our world becomes increasingly pluralistic, how does one embrace the specific truth-claims of one religion while remaining “tolerant” of others? Or is tolerance only compatible with relativism?
